Week 8: Overcoming Challenges

I really connected with the readings that we had this week because I can relate them to what I feel like I am going through in my life right now.

About 3 weeks ago my husband and I decided that we wanted to have a change and we felt it was time for a move. Boise is an expensive place to live, and it would be really hard to get into something that would fit our growing needs as far as housing. On top of this we have always talked about taking an adventure. I have a cousin that lives in Pennsylvania and so we decided to go for it and move there from Idaho. Our lease for our apartment is up in July and so it seemed like a perfect time to pack up and move. At first, I thought it would be easy to find jobs and a place to live. It is turning out to be a lot harder in the place-to-live department. The town that we are moving to is relatively small, but close to bigger cities, which makes it desirable for other people as well.

There have been days this week where I have really doubted if we were making the right decision. Both of our families are here, we have good roots, and we are comfortable here. Fear of the unknown started to take over. Then I read the Hollands talk "However Long and Hard the Road". Elder Holland gave the quote "We have before us many, many long months of struggle and suffering. What is our aim? . . . Victory—victory at all costs; victory in spite of all terror; victory, however long and hard the road may be. . . .". I know that moving is something that usually is not easy, but if it feels right we should follow it. The easy and comfortable thing would be to give up and just stay here, but that would have its challenges too.

The one thing I have always loved about this class is the reading. It seems to always be exactly what I need to hear, when I need to hear it. It has helped me to have faith and trust in the Lord and His timing. His plan is greater than my own and for that I am grateful.
