Week 13: A Journey of Gratitude

I am really glad that we got to focus on gratitude this week. I especially liked President Monsons talk about it and how we should look for it in our lives. One of my goals has always been to keep a gratitude journal, and to write in it at the end of the day so that I can take the time to ponder about what happened each day and the things that went well.

This last week I saw how this benefited my day and helped me to be more successful. On Tuesday I was having a really hard morning. I was pretty sick and not feeling well, and I honestly felt really alone and like I had no one I could talk to. I decided to say a prayer and it was one of the most sincere prayers that I have ever said. I asked Heavenly Father to give me the strength my body needed so that I could make it through the day and be proud of the day that I had. After I said that prayer my sister texted me and we were able to call each other and talk on the phone for a couple of hours. I poured my heart out to her about the problems I was facing.

Not gonna lie, it was really hard to be vulnerable in that moment and say how alone I felt, but in doing that it helped me to be able to be humble and have her help to lift me up. In this weeks reading I also learned how important it is to accept our own strengths and weaknesses and that its okay to have weakness. Weakness allows us to reach out to others and gain more wisdom and knowledge from them. We shouldn’t ever have to feel like we need to be perfect and never show that we are struggling.
