Week 9: Disciple Leadership

The part of the reading that hit me the most this week was the talk by Elder Bednar called A Disciple Preparation Center. I remember reading this talk for a couple of my classes at BYU-I and loving the simple message that it carried. BYU-I can be seen as a very strict school, with harsh guidelines and black and white rules. This talk helped me to understand why some of those rules are in place. This school is designed to train you on how to be a Disciple of Christ for your whole life. The quote that Elder Bednar said that I really needed to hear this week was

". . . I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life. (John 8:12; emphasis added) Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. (Matthew 11:28-30; emphasis added)"

Our move is getting closer and closer. I have confidence that it is what we are supposed to be doing at this time, but there are moments when I am still nervous. This scripture helped me to remember that the Lord is literally light, and that when we follow Him he will light the path before us and help us along the way. He wants to help us and all we have to do is let Him in.

I know that I can also put this towards my schooling and what I am trying to accomplish in my career. I am learning myself and what makes me, me. I love this class and the readings that we get to do, they help me understand myself so much better.
